Xbox Live, Xbox.com service suffers an outage

Posted by iwgcr

Xbox services went down on June 20 2013 at around 11:19 a.m. PT. The outage has limited access when signing into Xbox 360, and certain Xbox Live features for those who are online. Xbox.com was also affected by this issue, as users may found web pages unresponsive.  Xbox Support has acknowledged the issue, but no time frame was given for when the service would be fixed.  The official Xbox Live status page encouraged users to check back 30 minutes later.

“Hi Xbox Members! We are aware there is an issue with sign in and connectivity on Xbox LIVE,” it stated.

“We are hard at work to get you back online as soon as possible! Check back here in half an hour for an update.”

This outage comes less than 24 hours after Microsoft scrapped plans for the upcoming Xbox One console to require a daily internet connection.  This previous requirement would have made the Xbox One unplayable during Xbox Live outages that lasted longer than 24 hours.

The Xbox Live status page informed users at 8.22pm UK time (12.22pm PT): “Good news! Login capabilities are now restored. We’re happy to have you back online. Thank you for your patience.”
