Many companies have lost their data because of large-scale failure at FirstServer
First Server, a subsidiary of Yahoo! Japan, is one of the leading web hosting companies in the Japanese market who provides integrated services composed of web hosting, domain registration and SaaS.
The support website of FirstServer said:
Now state from around 30 minutes (Wed) 5:00 pm June 20, data such as WEB · e-mail is lost in some of our services, not available.
By trying to update some servers against security vulnerability they made mistakes in the update script so that it removed unexpected files and even on unexpected servers. According to their update procedure, they apply the update on both the production environment and the backup environment at the same time.
Data loss is permanent!
